Joe Brown Garrett Obituary

Joe Brown Garrett, affectionately known as “Brown,” was born on December 7, 1946, to the late Reverend C.B. and Pearlie Mae Garrett. Joe Brown Garrett accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Kingston Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his wife Jessie Mae Shepherd-Garrett; siblings Lille Mae Patterson, TC Garrett, Joseph Garrett, Johnny Taul Garrett, Isaac Garrett, Pearlena Garrett, Annie Maud Mallory, Fannie Taylor and James C. Garrett; daughter Delois Morris Smoot; grandson LaDavian “Pear” Morris and granddaughters Ashley and Adrian Traylor.

He was a dedicated employee of the City of Childersburg until his retirement. After retiring, he continued to pursue his passions. A jack of all trades, he was skilled at building and fixing most things. When he wasn't engaging in his hobbies, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Garrett is survived by his children: Fannie (Melvin) Sheppard, Darren Shepherd, Joe Shepard, Pearlie Mae Shepherd, Jerome (Reneisha) Shepherd, and Loretta Morris. He is also remembered by two siblings, Arnetta (Lee) Keith and Linda Jean Curry, along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and friends.

Though we know that we will miss his smile, hugs, and most of all, his love, we also know that he is no longer suffering and is at peace with the Lord.
