Mr. Joe Freeman (Freeboy) Swain earthly journey began on December 28, 1947 to the parentage of T.L. Swain, Sr. and Artelia Garrett Swain in Talladega County, Alabama. He was the twelfth of fifteen children.
Freeboy accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, at an early age and united with Tallassahatchie Missionary Baptist Church, Childersburg, AL. As a youth he was educated in the Talladega County School System and graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School, Childersburg, AL. Shortly after, he joined and served two years in the United States Army.
Along Freeboy’s life’s journey he met and united in Holy Matrimony to Margie Lene Butler on June 11, 1984.
Freeboy departed this walk of life on September 9th 2021, at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his father, T.L. Swain, Sr., mother, Artelia G. Swain, one son, five sisters, and two brothers.
Freeboy’s precious memories will be cherished by his loving wife and best friend, Margie Lene Swain; two daughters, Montoya (Marlon) Cole and Sametra Woods; three sons, Kumari (Quinethia) Swain, Torrey (Tralisha) Truss, and Robert Davis; three brothers, T.L. Swain, Robert Swain, and Roy Swain; four sisters, Katie Campbell, Mary Welch, Barbara Green, and Arieglean (Danny) Washington; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
