John Milton Wilson Obituary

John Milton Wilson, affectionately known as “Milt,” was born in Talladega County, Alabama, to the beloved parents Claude Wilson and Precious L. Kirkland-Wilson. He peacefully departed this walk of life on July 17, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.

John received his formal education at Phyllis Wheatley High School in Childersburg, Alabama, and later transferred to Fayetteville High School, where he graduated with the Class of 1973.

At an early age, John began his walk with Christ and became a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, which later became Trinity Baptist Church. His spiritual journey continued when he united with Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend John Patton. Faithful and devoted to the ministry, John was a proud member of the Divine Soldiers of Friendship Baptist Church Male Chorus, where his voice lifted praise and joy to all who heard it.

John’s strong work ethic was evident throughout his life. He was employed with Jerry Crowe Logging, Shell Cast, and Georgia Marble in Sylacauga, Alabama. He later served with dedication at Central Alabama Community College (CACC) for 29 years.

A lover of sports, John especially enjoyed basketball and cheering on Auburn Tiger Football. He gave back to his community by serving as a poll worker for many years. With a green thumb and a keen eye for beauty, John also had a special love for flowers and took great pride in maintaining a beautiful yard.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Flora Smith; and his brothers, Glenn Wilson, Tom Wilson, Joe Wilson, and Arthur Capers.

Cherishing his memory and legacy are his loving wife, Lue Wilson of Sylacauga, AL; four devoted sons: Jeremaine (Rachel) Wilson of Vincent, AL, Demetrius (Erika) Wilson of Sylacauga, AL, Dedrick Taylor of Childersburg, AL, and Derion (Ashley) Taylor of Wilsonville, AL; one sister, Anna Townsend of Childersburg, AL; beloved grandchildren: Jace (Quenessa) Greene, Josef Green, Jenna Wilson, Kaelon Taylor, Chloe Hughes, Marli Carlisle, Cruz Wilson, McKinlee Taylor, and McKarus Taylor; two great-grandchildren: Jaden Green and Kyndall Green.

He also leaves behind two brothers-in-law: Jerry (Ruthie) Crowe and Harry (Vickie) Crowe; eight sisters-in-law: Josie (David) Walls, Margaret (Lynn) Foster, Annie Sterns, Rita (Reverend Robert) Russell, Martha (Xavier) McKinney, Cynthia (Udo) Geesken, Helen Crowe, and Loraine Capers; one uncle-in-law: Paul Vincent; a bonus son, Daniel Flenord; a bonus daughter, Treka Vick; his favorite nephew, Ernest Rosten; favorite niece, Rosetta King; and his best friend, Reverend Robert Russell. A host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
