Joseph Cephus Traylor Obituary

Sylacauga, Alabama - Mr. Joseph Cephus Traylor, affectionately known as “Jae,” was born on November 15, 1957, in Birmingham, Alabama. He was the beloved son of the late Frager Traylor, Jr. and Mattie Wiley Traylor.

Joseph departed this life on February 28, 2026, at his residence in Sylacauga, Alabama.

He was educated in the Birmingham City School System and graduated from Phillips High School with the Class of 1975. At an early age, he accepted Christ and became a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Bessemer, Alabama.

Joseph was a hardworking and dedicated man who made his living as a truck driver and was also employed with Bruno’s for a number of years. He was known for his love of life and simple pleasures. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, barbecuing for family and friends, and reading his Bible.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frager Traylor, Jr. and Mattie Wiley Traylor; his siblings, Willie Mae Bennings, Theophulus Traylor, and Andrew Traylor.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving children, Dalisha McGhee of Grovetown, Georgia, and Johnathan Traylor of Birmingham, Alabama; his cherished grandchildren, Azaria McGhee, Aston McGhee, and JaMarcus Duncan, all of Grovetown, Georgia; his devoted siblings, Cynthia Traylor of Birmingham, Alabama, Jerry (Theta) Traylor of Stone Mountain, Georgia, and Robert Lee Traylor of Birmingham, Alabama; his sister-in-law, Catherine Traylor of Birmingham, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

Joseph will be remembered for his kind spirit, his love for his family, and the joy he brought to those who knew him.
