Joseph "Hamp" Coleman Obituary

Mr. Joseph “Hamp” Coleman was born on January 27, 1944 to the parentage of the late Joe Coleman and Mrs. Gracie Samuels Coleman in Childersburg, Alabama.

Mr. Coleman accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, at an early age and united with Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Childersburg, Alabama.

Along Mr. Colemans life journey he met and united in Holy Matrimony to the late Shirley Ann Trescott in 1969 to this union two daughters was born.  Later Mr. Coleman met and united in Holy Matrimony to Ms. Betty Walker. 

Mr. Coleman severed two years in the United States Army.  He later became a dedicated employee with Clearwater Fishing Plant in South Carolina, and Russell Mills in Sylacauga, Alabama. 

On May 13, 2021 Mr. Joseph “Hamp” Coleman departed this walk of life under the care of Coosa Valley Medical Center, Sylacauga, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Prescott Coleman, brothers, Edward Coleman, and Larry Coleman and one nephew, Al Coleman.

His love and memories will be cherished and remembered by his wife, Betty W. Coleman of Childersburg, AL; four daughters, Darice (Timothy) McGregor,  Kimberly Wilson both of Childersburg, AL; Mary (Jerry) Groce of Sylacauga, AL; and Felecia (Michael Tuck) Walker of Tuscaloosa, AL; one son, Earl Walker of Childersburg, AL; loving mother, Gracie S. Coleman of Childersburg, AL; three brothers, Rev. John A. (Patricia) Coleman of Childersburg, AL; Donald Coleman, and Michael (Mary) Coleman both of Birmingham, AL; five sisters, Virginia (Jimmy) Woods of Jacksonville, FL; Annie (Warren) Mitchell of Atlanta, GA; Diana Keys of Virginia Beach; Sandra (Moses) Crocker of Jacksonville, FL; and Lola Coleman of Atlanta, GA; eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, three aunts and a host of other relatives and friends.
