Joyce Ann “Ann” Garrett was born on January 7, 1955, in Harpersville, Alabama, to the late Silas Dates and Betty Dennis. She peacefully entered eternal rest on October 20, 2025.
Ann was a proud graduate of the Vincent Middle | High School Class of 1973. At an early age, she accepted Christ and became a devoted member of Bakers Grove Baptist Church.
She was a dedicated and hardworking woman, serving many years at Valley Mill in Columbiana, Alabama, and later at Avondale Mills in Pell City, Alabama. Her loyalty, strong work ethic, and pleasant spirit made a lasting impression on all who crossed her path.
Ann was preceded in death by her father, Silas Dates; mother, Betty Dennis; sisters, Trina Dennis and Eddie Meas Dates; and brother, Darryl Dennis.
Her cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of her loving husband, David Garrett of Harpersville, AL; sisters, Linda Dates and Josephine Dennis, both of Baltimore, MD, and Barbara Ann Dates of Pittsburgh, PA; brothers, Kevin Dennis and Tyrone Dennis, both of Baltimore, MD, Carol Garrett of Alpine, AL, and Jerry (Suzanne) Dates of Vincent, AL; special aunt, Mary Lee of Harpersville, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Ann will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for family. Her life and legacy will forever be treasured.
