Juanita’s Life’s Reflections
Juanita’s earthly journey began on March 30, 1948, to the parents of Shelley Woods, Sr. and Rosie Lee Gamble Woods in Talladega County, Alabama. Juanita a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend was affectionally known as "Sis".
At an early age Juanita accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a long-time member of Enon Missionary Baptist Church, Childersburg, Alabama. She was faithful and dedicated to the ministry; she led many songs in the Enon Senior Choir, always uplifting the congregation in worship.
She received her formal education at Phyllis Wheatley High School, Childersburg, Alabama. Juanita furthered her education at Nunnelley State Technical College, Childersburg, Alabama.
She was a dedicated employee for many years at Gentiva Health Service and Palmetto Infusion Service until her happy retirement in September 2021.
Juanita was a classy, poised, and loving jewel to her family and friends. You could always find her with a joyful spirit and smile. She loved to travel and was an avid reader; often inspiring others around her to do the same. Juanita enjoyed attending the Phyllis Wheatley High School Grand reunions, spending time with her family and friends, and she was a loyal supporter of her grandchildren and their activities.
Juanita departed this walk of life on September 15, 2023 at her residence; surrounded by loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Shelley Woods, Sr. and Rosie Lee Gamble Woods, brothers, Robert Woods, and Shelley Woods, Jr., and other beloved relatives.
Juanita’s love will forever be cherished by her loving son, Jerome Swain of Pike Road, AL; loving daughter, Andrea W. Ellis - Morris (James) of Sylacauga, AL; siblings, Hattie Threatt, Standard Woods, and Charles (Carolyn) Woods all of Childersburg, AL; four grandchildren, Jamaury Ellis of Atlanta, GA, DeAndres Ellis of Childersburg, AL, Keenan Wallace of Odenville, AL and Kaeden Swain of Pike Road, AL; loving special nieces, Sabrina Taylor of Austin, TX, Pamela Norris of Opelika, AL, and Rae Michelle Carter of Austin, TX; her loving and devoted family friend, Verleane (Judy) Young - Matthews of Childersburg, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
