Villa Rica, Georgia - A loving supportive mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Juanita was the fourth child born eighty-nine years ago, to the late Allie Bo and Mattie Moon Fuller in Coosa County, Alabama.
She confessed to Christ at an early age at the Harper Springs Baptist Church in Sylacauga, Alabama. Juanita was a graduate of Robert Russell Moton High School in Sycamore, Alabama. She graduated with the class of 1954, after graduation she moved to Cleveland, Ohio and further her education at Cleveland State University. While attending Cleveland State she met the love of her life, Arthur Bohannon, Sr. aka Mickey.
Juanita and Arthur united in Holy Matrimony in 1955 and to this union two sons were born, Art and Tony. As a family they moved to Buffalo, New York for a short time before relocating to Denver, Colorado. While in Colorado, she joined Macedonia Baptist Church and served in various organizations and sang in the Macedonia Choir. She was employed with St. Joseph Hospital while in Colorado, and Safeway Grocery Chain as a checker.
In 1969, Juanita united in Holy Matrimony to Cornelius Scott. Juanita wanted more in life and decided to further her education and enrolled at the University of Colorado where she studied Sociology and Psychology. She graduated in 1979 and received her Bachelor of Science Degree. She didn’t stop there, she continued at the University of Northern Colorado and received her Master of Science Degree in Sociology and Psychology in 1974. She joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, where she was a member of several different chapters. Juanita was a member of Mu Omega Omega Chapter in Aurora, Colorado, where she served as President from 1981 to 1982.
Juanita began working in the Criminal Justice System, in various departments. She retired in 2003 as a former Reintegration Specialist at Colorado Department of Corrections. In 2006, she moved to Villa Rica, Georgia. She united with Mt. Prospect Baptist Church in Villa, Rica, Georgia. She was a member of Thomas Dorsey Birthplace Choir for two years. Later she united her faith with New Mountain Baptist Church in Winston, Georgia. One of her most joyous trips was getting baptized in the Jordan River.
Juanita had an infectious smile and never met a stranger. She loved to cook, travel and was a photographer. She was always ready to take trips, and kept her bags packed. No matter if it was a car, bus, ship, plane, or train, she was ready. She was very affectionate and compassionate when it came to her family. She was an Ambassador for Christ and traveled to almost all fifty states and international places, Europe, Mexico, The Caribbeans, Paris and Israel.
Juanita departed this walk of life on August 16, 2024, at her home in Villa Rica, Georgia under hospice care. She was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings.
Her love will forever be cherish by her two loving sons, Arthur Bohannon, Jr., and Anthony Bohannon; three grandsons, Anthony Harper-Bohannon (Ronnicka), Dewayne Bohannan, and Kyle Bohannon; one granddaughter, Kalayah Leach; seven great grandchildren, DaShun, Miles, Destiny, Jay’Vion, Ny’lear, Sophia, and Keyona; two sisters, Johnnie Mae Goodgame, and Brenda Wyteria Wilson (George); one brother, Fred Wilson; one sister in law, Lillie Fuller; God daughter, Kimberly Gross Turo; God son, Yasep Lateef; one special niece, Corine Anita Matt; one special cousin, Bertha Murray; an extended family of special friends, Peggy Odum Rolland, Clara Rose, Edna Berry - Narcisse, Joyce Walker, Shirley Nathan, Evelyn Gross, Betty Jean Brown, Margaret Foreman, Virginia Williams and Margaret Pitts, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
