Julia Patricia White, affectionately known as Tonya, dawned October 9th, 1964, in Detroit, Michigan, to the Late Pettus White and the Late Artis Lee Kidd.
She loved the Lord and accepted Christ at an early age. Julia’s journey began at Mark Twain Elementary school. While in school, Julia matured and earned many academic honors, was very popular and participated in various clubs. Julia also attended the “Big S.O.” Detroit’s Southwestern High School.
Julia’s love for helping others led her to pursue a degree in social work. Music, singing and playing the piano were also Julia’s interest. She enjoyed being around family and most of all, her friends. Julia’s laugh was infectious! Her laugh would make a bad joke hilarious. Also, if having a sharp tongue was a profession, Julia would be the Professor! If Julia took the time to fuss at you, she loved you. She’d read you and seconds later, she’s your best friend. As if nothing ever happened. Julia was spoiled to no end by her daddy. If Julia wanted it, Julia got it. As soon as she received her allowance, purple Now and Laters was always the first purchase. She was the Queen of that candy. Julia’s journey was never dull. As a young adult, Julia and first born son, Antwone, moved to Carbon Hill, Alabama. Where she met and married Michael Jones. Julia and Michael were married for many years. Their love created sons Anthony and Avery. Michael preceded her in death. Lawrence “L.A.” Coley, Julia’s life partner, whom she loved dearly, also preceded her in death. Julia welcomed in the new year. Then with family by her side, peacefully, her sun set at 7:02 p.m, on January 12th, 2025.
Her memories will forever be cherished by her three sons, Antwone White, Anthony White (Chaquita) and Avery White, adopted Mom Shirley Wilson, four siblings, Toni White-Tyler, Saundra Wilson, Nathaniel Wilson and Ramona Ruffin (Darryl), seven adored grandchildren, Kendra, Kylie, Cynia, Aria, CameRon, Koen and Kolton. Also, a host of beautiful nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, God sister and close friends.
As we sit here, Julia is looking down smiling and saying…Yes! They really do LOVE me.
