Katrina Sherrell Cook was born on Monday, May 30th, 1977, in Talladega County, Alabama to the parents of Dr. Rev. Nathan Cook, Sr. and Julia Ree Garrett-Cook.
At an early age, Katrina united with Morning Star Baptist Church, Talladega, Alabama, where she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was educated at Winterboro High School in Alpine, Alabama, and was a graduated of the class of 1995. Katrina later attended Central Alabama Community College (CACC) in Alexander City, Alabama, where she was awarded a 2-year Full Athletic Softball Scholarship. Katrina loved playing softball and was very good at it. Katrina was employed at Parker Velcon Filtration in Sylacauga, Alabama where she faithfully worked for 18 years. Her hobbies included traveling, spending time with her family, attending basketball, volleyball, football, and softball games, watching her children play and often aiding in coaching and loving on and spoiling her prize possessions, her grandchildren. Everyone who knew Katrina was familiar with her captivating beautiful infectious smile.
Katrina was a dedicated loving mother and grandmother. She player many roles in her family to ensure that everyone stayed in line. Katrina had a very caring and giving heart and her sweet spirit will always be remembered by all the hearts that she touched.
Katrina gave birth to her eldest and only son, Jutorrius Katrell Cook who affectionately nicknamed Woota fathered by Torrance Doss. Katrina was joined in holy matrimony to Derrick Buchanan and unto this union, two daughters were born, Kaderica (KD) Junae and Zakhia (Khia) Shyree Buchanan.
On January 11th, 2023, Katrina Sherrell Cook’s earthly journey ended when she peacefully transitioned to her eternal resting place reunited with her father, Dr. Rev. Nathan Cook, Sr., mother, Julia Ree Garrett-Cook and brother Stephan Deon Cook.
Katrina leaves her precious memories to forever be cherished by her three loving children, Jutorrius Cook, Kaderica Buchanan, and Zakhia Buchanan, three amazing grandchildren, Khloe O’Neal, Karlee Cook, and Jai’Cole Cook; she also leaves her treasured memories of her siblings, Juliette Cook, and Tanga Alisa (Lisa) Lorenzo, sisters; Nathan Jr. (Brenda) Cook, Shannon Leon (Regina Carter) Cook, all of Talladega, AL, and Phillip Wayne (Diane) Cook of Sylacauga, AL, brothers; Katrina also leaves fond memories of her nephews and nieces, Ju’Markis Cook, Detrica Gaddis, Phillip Cook, Shania Cook, Diana Pascual, Juliyl Cook, Aalani Cook, and Shalon Cook, with one precious niece, E’Mani Williams, a dear great nephew, Azaiah Cook, a special longtime childhood best friend (sister), Brandie Garrett-Fomby, a loving God brother, Rev. Eric Richardson, and a host of aunts and uncles and other relatives.
