Kelvin Jean Wilson Obituary

Sylacauga, Alabama - Kelvin Jean Wilson, affectionately known to many as “Broadway,” “Hollywood,” and “Cal,” began his earthly journey on March 1, 1952, in Sylacauga, Alabama, to the beloved Mary Frances Walker. A devoted son, brother, uncle, and pillar of the community, Kelvin’s life was a testament of love, faith, and joy. On August 19, 2025, at the age of 73, he peacefully transitioned from this life, leaving behind an unforgettable impact on the hearts of all who knew him.

Kelvin received his education at Phyllis Wheatley High School in Childersburg, Alabama. He later joined New Beginnings Ministries in Sylacauga, Alabama, where he faithfully worshiped under the leadership of Reverend Deforest Godfrey.

A hard-working man, Kelvin dedicated many years to Avondale Mills in Sylacauga, as well as Bemiston Mill in Talladega, along with other various jobs before his retirement. Beyond his work, Kelvin’s greatest joy was found in singing and worshiping the Lord. His favorite song, “God Is Still in Charge,” reflected his deep faith and trust in God’s plan.

Those who knew Kelvin will remember his contagious smile, his gentle soul, and his ability to create lifelong friendships. He was deeply loved by his family, friends, and community, and his presence brought light wherever he went.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Ernest and Bertha Wilson, and his loving stepfather, Dave Roosevelt Walker, Sr.

His love and memory will forever be cherished by his devoted mother, Mary Frances Walker of Sylacauga, AL; brothers, Roosevelt (Vickey) Walker, Jr. of Alpine, AL, Virgil (Janet) Walker, Barry Walker, and Wayne Walker, all of Sylacauga, AL; sisters, Gloria (Myron) Gilder, Delores Goodgame, Connie Anderson, and Carol Ashley, all of Sylacauga, AL; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and countless friends.
