Goodwater, Alabama - Larry Wayne Wilson, affectionately known as “Groovy” was born on October 4, 1964 in Talladega County, Alabama to the parentage of Willis Wilson, Jr. and Annie Pearl Wilson who both preceded him in death. On April 8, 2025, Groovy departed this walk of life leaving an unforgettable impact on the hearts of everyone he touched, as he peacefully departed this life at the age of 60.
During Groovy younger days, he attended Goodwater High School, where he laid the foundation for a lifetime of service and achievement. He was involved with the Goodwater High School Track Team. Groovy accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age and became a member of Saint James AME Church and later became a member with Pleasant Hime Baptist Church in Goodwater, Alabama.
Groovy was a hard-working gentleman, he had many work skills to complete whatever task was asked of him. He work for various employers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandmothers, Pearline Whetstone, and Annie Bell Smith, niece, Moneike Odem, nephew, Travanti Odem.
Groovy was a brother, uncle, and friend to many who he leaves to cherish his loving memories. He is survived by eight sisters, Annie Wilson, Beverly Wilson, Sharon Wilson, Marian Wilson, Latonya Kelly all of Goodwater, AL, Margie (Kalim) Hakim of Frisco, TX, Beverly (Alonzo) Linsley of Lineville, AL, and Samiyah Tuck of Gulfport, MISS; one brother, Lakendrick Tuck of Gulfport, MISS; aunts, Darlina Wilson, and Shirley (Joe Louis) Smoot of Goodwater, AL; special nieces and nephews, Jaida Odem, Deonta Cook, Landreka Cook, Jr., Jarvirous Wilson (Ayana Dunkins), Landreka Cook, Sr. (Lasonya Herron) all of Goodwater, AL; special friends, Teresa Kelly; A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
