Goodwater, Alabama - Mr. Lawrence Carl Oliver earthly journey began on October 23, 1953, to the parents of Mary Lee (Mommy Mae) McKinney and stepfather, John Will (Bud) McKinney, who both preceded him in death.
Affectionately known as L.C. lived a full and blessed life for seventy years. He truly loved his children and family. In his younger days he loved to run track and became a track star. His level of competitiveness allowed him not to be outran. He had a passion for dancing, he was the “James Brown” without the fame. He was a devoted Alabama Crimson Tide fan. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He was called home on Thursday, September 12, 2024, under the care of Regional Medical Center, Anniston, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Anthony Oliver, and several stepbrothers and sisters.
He leaves to cherish his memories two sons, Lawrence Oliver and Clarence Cross both of Hartford, CT; siblings, Linda (James) Dixon of Goodwater, AL, Jerry (Felita) Oliver of Millerville, AL, Robert McKinney of Hartford, CT, Morris McKinney of Goodwater, AL, JoCatherine (John) Simmons of Goodwater, AL, Bessie Kelley of Goodwater, AL, and Harvey Louis Odem of Goodwater, AL; aunt, Deloris Haskins of Hartford, CT; uncle, R.C. (Karen) Cathey of Oklahoma; ten grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
