Linda G. Morris

Linda Gail Morris, 66, of Sylacauga, AL., went to her eternal home on March 18, 2022. On September 11, 1955, Linda was born to George Henry Morris and Sarah Cowlin. She was a graduate of Childersburg High School and worked at the Childersburg Housing Authority for many years. She dedicated her life to being a fantastic mother to Avis, Andrea, and Jamie.

Linda excelled at encouraging her children and others. Linda was a very loving person with a sweet spirit and personality. She found joy in her children and her grandchildren. Linda did not meet any strangers. She was well known for her giving spirit. She loved making others happy and loved to celebrate birthdays and other special occasions with others. We always looked forward to our birthday calls because we knew that we would be blessed with a song. She was also known for giving out tokens of love.

Linda was a member of the Joyful Noise A.O.H. Church of God, where she was a part of the Mass and Senior choirs, The Usher board, The Mother’s Board, Women’s Ministry, and the Kitchen Staff. We will miss her greatly.

Linda departed this walk of life on March 18, 2022 under the care of Russell Medical Center, Alexander City, Alabama.  Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Sarah Cowlin, her father, George Henry Morris, sister Iris Cowlin and her son Jamie Morris.

She leaves to cherish her memories of two daughters: Avis (Gary) McKay of Sylacauga, AL, and Andrea (Micah) Morris of Childersburg, AL. Five sisters: Mary Cowlin, Georgia Morris, Patricia Swain of Sylacauga, AL, Pearlie (John Willie) Whetstone of Alpine, AL, and Latoya Cowlin of Childersburg, AL. Three brothers: Paul Morris and Jimmy (Sharon) Morris of Sylacauga, AL., Alphonzo (Tracie) Morris of Cleveland, Ohio.  Six grandchildren: Jakira Morris, Aahlena Morris, Darrion Caldwell, Gabrielle McKay, Terrissa Swain, and Gary McKay, Jr., two great-grandchildren: Kamiri Morris and Jakiyah Averette, and a host of other relatives and friends.
