Lloyd "Showboat" Brownfield Obituary

Sylacauga, Alabama - Lloyd Sebastian Brownfield, affectionately known as “Showboat,” was born on December 11, 1960, in Sylacauga, Alabama, to the late Martha Faye Borden and Robert Traylor.

Lloyd received his education from B.B. Comer Memorial High School and furthered his studies at Nunnelly Community College, now known as Central Alabama Community College (CACC). At an early age, he joined Harper Springs Baptist Church in Sylacauga, Alabama, where he remained a member until his health began to decline.

Lloyd was a skilled transmission mechanic and the proud owner of L&B Transmission in Sylacauga, Alabama. He was well known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his craft. His love for cars and passion for speed were evident to all who knew him.

Beyond his work, Lloyd was a man full of life and joy. He truly enjoyed fellowship with family and friends and was known for his fun-loving spirit and quick wit. Always ready with a punchline, Lloyd had a way of bringing laughter and light into any room. He was well-dressed, generous, and giving—qualities that made him deeply loved by many. Above all, he was a devoted father, grandfather, uncle, son, and cousin who treasured his family.

Lloyd departed this life on April 25, 2026, at his residence in Sylacauga, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martha Faye Borden and Robert Traylor; his son, Marquez “Boo” Brownfield; his sister, Geraldine Redmond; and a host of other relatives and close friends.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories three sons, DiAndre Brownfield (Ashley), Jacari Brownfield, and Jason Gaines (Latasha); three grandchildren, Marquavis Brownfield, Latavian Brownfield, and Kariah Brownfield; four siblings, Clyde Borden (Francine), Jim Borden, Don Borden, and Leander Brownfield; special nieces, Debra Brownfield, Tabitha Brownfield, and Candice Borden; special nephew, Stephen Borden; special cousin, Jermaine “Cartoon” Morris; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

Lloyd’s legacy of laughter, love, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
