Mrs. Lucille Carter Woods earthly journey began on January 9th, 1926 to the parentage of John Henry Carter and Alice Rice Carter.
Mrs. Woods accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with Tallassahatchie Missionary Baptist Church. She was an active member of the ladies Missionary Society, she served on the Usher Board, she enjoyed attending Sunday School, and served on the Kitchen Committee where she used her culinary skills to help prepare delicious meals for breakfast and dinner. Everyone loved her chicken and dressing and sweet potato pies, she was known for.
Mrs. Woods was educated in the Talladega County School System and completed her education at Phyllis Wheatley High School, Childersburg, Alabama.
Along Mrs. Woods life’s journey she met and united in Holy Matrimony to Leander Woods, Sr. on December 28, 1946. To this beautiful union five children were born.
Mrs. Woods departed this earthly life on Sunday, September 19, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Alice Carter, her husband, Leander Woods, Sr. and her eldest son, Leander Woods, Jr.
She leaves her love and precious memories to her four children, Diane (Roger) Jones, John (Latanga) Woods both of Childersburg, AL; James (Tyra) Woods, and Kathy Woods Miller both of Sylacauga, AL; one daughter in law, Rita Woods of Lisman, AL; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, special friend, Dorothy Battle, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, neighbors (The Fair Family) and friends.
