Lucius Lamar Shorter earthly journey began on February 21, 1957, in Talladega County, Alabama. Lucius was the beloved son of Atticus and Linda Shorter who preceded him in death. He was affectionately known as Flip by family and many friends.
Lucius began his education in the Sylacauga School System, where he was joined by many friends and classmates. He graduated with the class of 1977 at Sylacauga High School. He confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior, and united with New Hope Baptist Church, Sylacauga, Alabama.
Lucius was employed with Shell Cast for many years before becoming employed with Sylacauga Hospital. His love and caring heart for people, led him to becoming a caregiver for two years.
Lucius spent the last 30 years of his life in Dayton, Ohio where he met many friends. He later decided to travel and come back to Sylacauga, Alabama where he was welcomed by many family and friends.
He departed this walk of life on July 10, 2024, at his residence in Sylacauga, Alabama, surrounded by his family. In heaven he will reunite with his parents, Atticus and Linda Shorter, three brothers, Edward Jemison, Harry Jemison, and William Jemison, two sisters, Abelene Shorter, and Peggy McKenzie.
His love will forever be cherished by his loving daughters, LaKisha Chambliss, Lasheka Culpepper, Latoya Culpepper and Jessica Kelley; seven grandchildren, ShaKayla Thomas, DeKerius Chambliss, Lexus Thomas, Ay’Mya Milliner, Jashad Cannon, Rashad Milliner, and Jaisean Cannon; one brother, Luther (Jennifer) Shorter; one sister, Anna Wynn; five grandchildren, six nieces, six nephews, aunts, Gwedolyn Hale and Lois Ross; special friends, Sylvia Jackson, Wanda Pope, Bonnie Thomas, and Terry Odum; and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
