Mae Robert Kidd was born to the proud parents of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert & Allie Kidd in Vincent, Alabama on September 30th, 1934. She was the third of five children, which include Truenetta, George, Robert, and Wallace.
Mae was educated in both the Shelby County Public School System and Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind.
Mae was reared in a loving home where Christ was centered. At a young age she dedicated her life to Christ and joined Coosa Valley Baptist Church in Vincent, where she remained a faithful servant. Mae enjoyed praising the Lord and being among her fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Though Mae was without hearing, to have known her was to know she felt the Spirit of the Lord in every song. She, partnered with her beloved cousin Polly Kelly, as good stewards of the facility the Lord gave Coosa Valley Baptist by keeping it clean and maintained. Colossians 3:17 says, "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him."
Mae was blessed with a natural maternal love of children. An example of that was her selfless devotion to helping care for her sister’s oldest children. She traveled to Chicago where she briefly lived to help care for her young nieces. Upon returning, Mae continued her legacy of love for nearly 70 years.
Mae enjoyed being around others. She had a vivacious and energetic spirit. Mae loved to dress up and wear her accessories! She was simply a joy to be around.
She was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend to many. She leaves to celebrate her memory, her brother Robert Kidd of Vincent, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
May her light shine on until we meet again. She has finished the race.
