Martha Ann (Helen) Horton

Mrs. Martha Ann Horton the daughter of Sammie Pearson and Essie Mae Pearson was born on July 4, 1942 in Coosa County, Alabama.  Mrs. Horton was affectionately known as “Helen” by family and friends.

At an early age, Mrs. Horton united with Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Ashland, Alabama. She was a native of Coosa County, Alabama and a long time resident of Ashland, Alabama. 

Along Martha’s life’s journey she met and fell in love with her longtime friend, Mr. Willie Horton, they proved to be inseparable and united in Holy Matrimony on February 16, 1980. 

Martha was well known among colleagues for her commitment and drive while employed at Cowmane Eggplant for 18 years and Truwood Cabinet Company for 30 years.  She loved fishing and entertaining her great grandchildren in her free time. 

Martha departed this walk of life on March 17, 2023 at her residence, in Ashland, Alabama.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Sammie and Essie Mae Pearson, and her son, William Lee Hayes. 

Her love will forever be remember by her loving husband of 43 years, Willie Horton; daughter, Allison (Gerald) Harris; two grandchildren, Tyrone (Julie) Zackery, and Michael (Keira) Sims; ten great - grandchildren, Tyeshia Zackery, Ladarius Zackery, Cayson Zackery, Braxton Zackery, Jackson Zackery, Tyrone Zackery Jr., Nykiya Griffin, Ebony Zackery, Desmond Ackles, and Donovan Harris; eight great-great- grandchildren; sister, Bessie Milliner; brother in law, Jerry Harris; special friends, David McCain, Loretta Wood, Lynn Williams, and Beverly Lindsey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Martha will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her.
