Mary Louise Swain, a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, transitioned peacefully on July 4, 2025, at the age of 83. A lifelong resident of Childersburg, Alabama, was known for her kind heart, strong faith, and the warmth she shared with all who knew her.
Mary was a proud graduate of Phyllis Wheatley High School in Childersburg. From an early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Enon Missionary Baptist Church. Later in life, following her retirement, she became lovingly affiliated with Pleasant Valley Methodist Church through the “Under the Tree” ministry, where her faith and service continued to flourish.
Throughout her career, Mary worked with dedication at several local employers, including Sylacauga Garment Factory, Medline, EPSCO, and Diversico, affiliated with Alabama Power. Her work ethic, humility, and resilience left a lasting impression on all who worked beside her.
Mary had a deep love for sewing and yard work, always tending to her home and family with care. She was especially known and cherished for her delicious pound cakes, a true signature of her hospitality and love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley N. Swain, Sr. and Beatrice Capers Swain; her brothers, J.C. Malone, J.W. Malone, Charles “Sonny Boy” Lee, Wiley N. Swain, Jr. (Vera), Hosea Swain (Mattie Mae), John “JT” Swain, and Robert F. Swain; and her sisters, Geraldine “Willie B.” Fields (Walter) and Bessie M. Capers.

Funderburg (Pastor William); her sister in law, Annette Swain; five beloved grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
