Mary Maxwell Sterns

Sylacauga, Alabama -  Mrs. Mary Maxwell Sterns was born on November 17, 1933, in Coosa County, Alabama, to the late Loyd and Lela Maxwell.  Mrs. Sterns had strength that could steady any storm, and love that was unwavering. She was a woman of wisdom, deep in her devotion, and always stood firm on her beliefs.  She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all she came in contact with.

Mary was educated in Coosa County, Alabama.  She Confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age.  She was a member of Church of Christ on Settlement Road in Sylacauga, Alabama.

Mary entered into eternal rest on February 23, 2025 at her residence in Sylacauga, Alabama.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Ellis Sterns, two sisters, Betty Maxwell, and Annie Lee Pope, two brothers, Sim Maxwell and Cecil Maxwell, her beloved parents, Loyd and Lela Maxwell.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories one son, Dwight Ellis Sterns of Sylacauga, AL; granddaughter, Shameka Demetrice Russell of Sylacauga, AL; four great grandchildren, Mekiah Taylor of Denver, CO, Michri Taylor, Justin Ware, Jr., and Journee Russell all of Sylacauga, AL; three sisters, Ruth Anderson of Rockford, AL, Marie Reynolds, and Sallie Pope both of Sylacauga, AL; one brother, Franklin Maxwell of Sylacauga, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Celebration of life for Mary Maxwell Sterns, age 91, will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025, at 12:00 Noon at Community Funeral Home Chapel, Sylacauga, Alabama. Bro Clemmie Gamble, Eulogist.  Interment will commence in the Settlement Road Church of Christ Cemetery, Sylacauga, Alabama.  Public Viewing will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2025, 1:00PM to 7:00PM at Community Funeral Home.
