Mr. Matthew Mack McElrath, Jr. was born on June 3, 1948 to the parentage of the late Matthew M. McElrath, Sr. and Mary Lena Chambers McElrath in Cherokee County, Alabama.
He attended Hatcher High School and at an early age joined New Bethel United Methodist Church of Ball Play Community. He later united with Enon Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully until his health begin to fail. He sang with the church male chorus, and was willing to work with other auxiliaries in the church as needed.
Mr. McElrath worked five years driving trucks for University Trucking Company. He worked at Alabama Power for thirty three years. He later study Computer Science at Central Alabama Community College (CACC) in 2002.
He united in Holy Matrimony December 3, 1983 to Ms. Susie Borden.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Matthew Mack McElrath and Mary Lena Barrington. Brothers Clarence and William McElrath. Sister in law Nellie McElrath. Brother in law Willie Walker.
On April 13, 2020 Mr. McElrath departed this walk of life at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster, AL.
Mr. McElrath leaves to cherish his memories a beautiful, loving, and devoted wife of thirty eight years, Susie B. McElrath; one daughter, Patrice O. McElrath; one son, Cameron T. McElrath; special guardian son, Jackie O. Fluker; two brothers, Charles E. (Paula) McElrath and Terry W. (Vickie) McElrath; three sisters, Helen Walker, Renea (Kenneth) Moten, and Lisa Barrington; one uncle, P.C. (Pete) Chambers; three grandchildren, Raven McElrath, Jayla McElrath, and Shaniya McElrath; in laws, Patrick (Linda) Roberson, James Wright, Gloria (Romie) Hart, Frank Wilson, Jr., Willie L. Wilson, Clara Sims, Eugene (Ruth) Marbury, Glenda (Warren) Turner, Edward Wright, Ann Johnson, Angela Rudish, Faye (Gene) Marbury, and Gloria Johnson; special loved ones, Courtney Castleberry, Gerald Wallace, Cleveland (Cleve) Martin, Rikita Lawson, Rapheal Lylias, and Greg Walker; and a host of other relatives and friends.
