Mrs. Mattie Lee Datcher Youngblood was born on April 13, 1954 to the parentage of Mrs. Mary Berta Witherspoon Datcher and Mr. Henry Ellon Datcher in Sylacauga, Alabama.
Mattie was married to her beloved high school sweetheart Mr. Jerry Youngblood for 46 years. To their union, four children were born. Mattie’s family was the love of her life. She attended every event that she possibly could that her children, grandchildren or even her nieces and nephews were involved. Mattie took her children to church, games, events, summer Baseball camps in Florida and many other places. If her husband, her children or grandchildren needed anything, if it was in her power to do so, she got it for them. She loved her sisters, Ola and Margaret as well as her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children. She was a faithful lifetime member of the Baker’s Grove Baptist Church where she showed her love for her Lord and Saviour in service as Missionary Ministry President, Flower bereavement committee member and an usher until her health failed.
Mattie graduated from Vincent High School in 1972. She retired from Kimberly Clark and the Bowater Newsprint corporations after many years of employment.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Lucy Mae and her step-son Ricky Swain.
Mattie leaves to cherish her memories a loving, caring and devoted husband Jerry Youngblood, two daughters: Priscilla (Quinton) Roberson, Felicia Elaine (Minister Ron) Little, two sons: Nigel Dwayne (Gwen) Youngblood and Jeremy Youngblood (Tara), two stepsons: Phillip (Robin) Russell and Jerry Russell(April), six grandsons: Brandon, JaQuan, Jerick, Quintavius, Nicholas and Tristan. One granddaughter Nariah, two sisters: Margaret (Frederick) Kidd and Ola Clancy. Three sisters-in- law Pastor Maudean Franklin, Mrs. Annie Laura Youngblood and Mrs. Nellie Youngblood. She also leaves to mourn a dedicated caregiver, Ms. Shirley McConico, and a host of nieces, nephews, special first cousins, her church family, friends, former co-workers and her beloved class of 1972.
