Sylacauga, Alabama - Michael Lionel Wells, a loving father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend was born on February 8, 1979, at Coosa Valley Medical Center, Sylacauga, Alabama. He was the beloved son of Michael Stone and Kimberly Wells Stone who preceded him in death. He was affectionately known as “Big Mike” or “Mr. Like That” by all family and friends.
Michael accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age and united with Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Sylacauga, Alabama. He received his education and graduated at Childersburg High School, where he received a scholarship to study and play basketball at Auburn University at Montgomery.
Michael was a hard and dedicated worker at Parker’s Velcon for 13 years. He became an entrepreneur and opened his own lawn care service, “Like That Lawncare” for 8 years. Michael was a member of the local Masonic Lodge of Freemason.
Michael was a father, a coach, a mentor, and a leader to the community. He was an all-around great person, protector, and provider for not only his children and family but others who he grew to love. He gave his all to the students he coached whether it was on or off the court or field. He could shoot a basketball like no other, on one leg over the powerline, because he was “Mr. Like That” as he called himself.
August 15, 2024, Mike departed this walk of life. In Heaven, Mike will reunite with his mother, Kimberly Well Stone, grandmothers, Irene Stone and Mona Lee Wells, grandfathers, Pete Stone and John Wells.
