On April 13, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, my loving parents, Johnnie Mae Goodgame and my late father, welcomed me and my twin brother, Michael Ray, into this world.
At the tender age of eight, I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior and became a member of Harper Springs Baptist Church. Throughout my years at Harper Springs, I was blessed to serve faithfully in many capacities — as a member of the choir, Sunday School teacher, Matron President, Usher Board President, Church Secretary, and Cemetery Chairperson. My service to the Lord and my church family brought me great joy and purpose.
Along my life’s journey, I met the love of my life, Gregory Foster, and our bond grew into an unbreakable union. On November 2, 1970, we were joined in holy matrimony, and for 55 beautiful years, our love has continued to flourish.
My professional journey was with Kimberly Clark/Bowater, where I dedicated 36 years of service before retiring.
I leave behind a lifetime of precious memories and love to my devoted husband of 55 years, Gregory Foster, Sr.; my sons, Gregory Foster, Jr. and Terrance DeWayne Foster; my beloved mother, Johnnie Mae Goodgame; my siblings, Earnestine Yvette Goodgame, “Twin” Michael Ray (Mary) Goodgame, and Tyrone (Geraldine) Goodgame; a special niece who was like a daughter, Shawanda Estelle; my sisters-in-law, Barbara (Milton) Jacobs, Glenda (John) Jackson, Shelia Foster, and Delois Goodgame; my brothers-in-law, Lynn (Margaret) Foster, Rayfield (Anita) Foster, and Ronnie (Sharon) Foster; my loving aunts, Brenda Wyteria (George) Wilson and Laura “Aunt Janie” Goodgame.
I was blessed with three beautiful grandchildren — Brittany Foster, Eboni Foster, and Jasmine Foster — and one bonus granddaughter, my great-niece Madison Estelle; as well as six great-grandchildren: Damien (DJ), Bailee, Railee, Gabe, Julianna, and Jordyn.
I am forever grateful for my daughter-in-law, Jessica Lee; my cherished friends Carolyn Powell, Vicki Wilson, Gloria Buie, Betty Lynn Kennedy, Cassandra Varner, and Marty Ray Funderburg; and for my wonderful neighbors, Lewis and Katherine Robinson. I am also thankful for the countless other relatives and friends whose love and kindness enriched my life.
Though I have departed this earthly journey, my heart remains with those I love. May my life be remembered for faith, love, laughter, and service to others.
