Sylacauga, Alabama - A precious one from us is gone, a voice we love is still, and a place is vacant in our home that can never be filled. On April 10, 1944, Earnest Harrison and Mattie Jewel Harrison welcomed their beautiful daughter, Mattie Pearl Harrison in Goodwater, Alabama. She departed this walk of life on November 23, 2024, under the care of Jackson Hospital & Clinic in Montgomery, Alabama.
Affectionately known as “Pearly” accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She untied her faith and became a member of Faith Whole Truth in Talladega, Alabama where she served faithfully until her health failed. She was a product and received her education in Goodwater, Alabama at Hanna J. Mallory Junior High School.
Along Mrs. Mattie’s life’s journey, she met and united in Holy Matrimony to the late Pastor Billy A. Walton. This union brought them much joy and happiness. She enjoyed traveling and helping her husband the late Pastor Walton with pastoring at Mt. Zion West, Alexander City, Alabama.
Mrs. Walton accepted the calling on her life and became an ordained Minister of the Gospel. During the course of her ministry she set aside time to journal and study the Word of God. She later took all of her journaling and thoughts and published a book titled “God Is My Soul Provider”. The vision of her book was to inspire, and encourage the unbelievers and believers that God will provide, no matter the circumstance.
Minister Walton was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Harrison and Mattie Jewel Harrison, daughter, Arusie Gaddis, husband, Pastor Billy A. Walton, siblings, John Otha Harrison, Leo Harrison, Thomas Harrison, Felix Harrison and Mary Francis Harrison. Her love will forever be remembered and cherished by her loving children, Henry Gaddis, Ernest Gaddis, Marie Gaddis, Thomas Gaddis, Daniel Gaddis, Jacqueline Gaddis, Josphine Gaddis, Bart Gaddis, Phillip Gaddis, Rickey Gaddis, and Steve Gaddis; siblings, Adoris Harrison Zackery, Berthene Harrison Ferrell, Aurwilther Harrison Smart, Willie James Harrison, Nicolas Embry, and Francine Embry Wilson; grandchildren, Nakosha Gaddis, Kiera Gaddis, Cynthia Walls, Terrell Gaddis, Danitra Stamps, Donovan Gaddis, Justice Gaddis, Tiffany Nix, Breasia Gaddis, Shamika Pope, Sheikele Gaddis, Misheika Gaddis, Marel Gaddis, and Timothy Gaddis; and a host of other relatives and friends.
