Talladega, AL - Celebration of Life & Graveside Service for Mrs. Mollie Bell Jemison, age 96, will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 12:00 Noon at Oak Hill Cemetery, Talladega, AL. Rev. Van Tony Welch, officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 - 1:00PM to 7:00PM at the Funeral Home.
Mollie Bell Stevenson Jemison earthly journey began on July 17, 1924 in Talladega, Alabama. Mrs. Jemison was one of six children born to the union of the late Wince and Delia Carter Stevenson.
Mrs. Jemison confessed Christ at an early age, and joined the Peace Missionary Baptist Church in 1940, under the pastorage of Rev. D.J. Austin. She worked faithful in the church, serving in the following ministries, church clerk / secretary, usher, choir, mother’s board, willing workers, president of deaconess, president of missionary society, culinary committee, pastor’s aide and worked entirely in the Shelby Springs District Association. She was willing to be of service within the church and the community whenever the need was before her. The deed was not too big or too small. She was truly on the Battlefield for the Lord in serving her fellow man. She was also a member of the Eastern Stars, Ethel Chapter #75.
Mrs. Jemison was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. John August Jemison on December 29, 1948. Together they both worked and served faithfully in the church until his death in 1985. Mrs. Jemison continued to render her service to the church and community until her health failed in 2003. She loved her church family.
She worked for Pilgrim’s Insurance Company for many years. She retired from Talladega College as a dorm mother, working at Foster Hall, Crawford Hall and Ish Hall for more than 35 years.
Mrs. Jemison was preceded in death by her parents, Wince and Delia Stevenson, her husband, John A. Jemison, two daughters, Sara Ann Jemison, and Minerva Jemison Gray, one son Grady Jemison, two brothers K.V. and Frank Stevenson and one sister Cora Lee Stevenson Morris.
She leaves to cherish her memories a loving daughter, Elizabeth Jemison Morris of Cleveland, OH, four devoted nephews, Donald (Sandra) Thomas of Columbia, SC, Leon Stevenson of Cleveland, OH, Anthony (Benita) Jemison of Trussville, AL, and Ronald “Butch” Jemison of Talladega, AL, one devoted niece, Linda Morris Fair of Attalla, AL, and two devoted great nieces, Corless Fair Hollis of Attalla, AL, Dorothy (Lawrence) Burks and Janice Faye Stevenson both of Cleveland, OH, sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Jemison of Talladega, AL, adopted son and daughter Matthew and Eula Morris of Talladega, AL; special caregivers, Mary Carlise, Lucille Jackson, Willie and Tina Nesby, Louise Walker, Martha (James) Hill, James Wilson, and Goodwater Nursing Home, and a host of other relatives and friends.
