Mother Essie Mae Brown earthly journey began on September 27, 1941 to the parentage of Otis F. Hamilton, Sr. and Willie L. Hamilton in Childersburg, Alabama.
Essie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and united with Mountain Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Childersburg, Alabama. She served as an active member of the choir and deacon’s wife ministry. Later she united with Liberty Christian Church, Harpersville, Alabama under the leadership of Bishop Elect Theoangelo Perkins.
Along Essie's life journey she met and united in Holy Matrimony to the late John L. Brown on March 21, 1962. To this beautiful union three children were born.
Essie was a joy to everyone she met. Her favorite hobbies were cooking, baking, and canning. She loved to bake sweet potato pies for anyone. In her spare time when she didn’t have dialysis, she enjoyed watching her favorite television shows, In the Heat of the Night, Law and Order, and Family Feud. She also enjoyed time with her great grandchildren and talk's with her sister.
Essie gained her wings and calmly transitioned to her forever home on Monday, August 30, 2021 under the care of St. Vincent St. Clair Medical Center, Pell City, Alabama. Welcoming her home was her husband, John L. Brown, her parents, Otis F. Hamilton, Sr. and Willie L. Hamilton, one son, Walter L. Brown.
Mother Essie, love and precious memories will be forever cherished by her loving daughter and caregiver, Cynthia Brown of Sylacauga, AL; son, Willie (Pastor Laura) Brown of Talladega, AL; loving sister, Evelyn Ware of Sylacauga, AL; three grandchildren, Cindy (Jay) Hutchins of Sylacauga, AL; Jason Brown of Sylacauga, AL; and Alexis (Brian) Becher of Manama, Bahrain; four great grandchildren, Jaylon, London, Jionni, and Kinsley; a host of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly, other relatives, church family and friends.
