Myrtle Jane Wesley Obituary

Myrtle Jane Wesley was born May 3, 1933, in Coffeeville, Mississippi. She was the oldest daughter of 8 children.

Myrtle accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at the young age of 8 years old and united with Bethlehem Baptist Church in Coffeeville, Mississippi.

After high school, Myrtle followed her brother Abednego Ingram to St. Paul, Minnesota where she attended Business School. In St. Paul, Myrtle attended Mount Olivet Baptist Church where she met her husband, Benjamin Wesley; they were wed in holy matrimony June 30, 1955. They were married 50 years. From this union, there were 2 children born, Debra and Lonnie

Ben and Myrtle moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where they became members of Zion Baptist Church. At Zion, Myrtle was head of the Usher Board and was a Sunday school teacher, her passion was to teach children about Jesus. Myrtle participated in many church auxiliaries at Zion.

Myrtle worked many years at Control Data Corporation, until she and her husband took an early retirement and they moved to her husband’s birthplace in Alabama.

In Alabama, Myrtle found her happy place at Mt. Olive Baptist Church as a Sunday school teacher, she also started a Junior Usher Board department and again, participated in many other church auxiliaries while at Mt. Olive.

Myrtle departed this earthly life on Thursday April 14, 2022, in Atlanta, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel Ingram, brothers, Meshach, Shadrach, Charles, and Arthur D. Ingram, sisters, Roberta Blakely and Edna Bland.

Myrtle leaves to cherish her memory a loving daughter, Debra; loving son, Lonnie; Granddaughter, Chanita (Daniel); Great-grand daughter, Jordyn; one brother, Abednego Ingram, and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, church family and friends.
