Nellie Faye (Pope) Jenkins

Mrs. Nellie Faye Jenkins a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister was born in Sylacauga, Alabama, on December 24th, 1935, to the union of Fred Pope, Sr. and Madie B. Parker - Pope.

Nellie,  accepted Christ as her Lord and savior at an early age in life, and later united with Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Sylacauga, Alabama where she served as a faithful member. Nellie, was very crafty and known throughout the community as the “Medicine Woman”. 

Along Nellie’s life’s journey she met and united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Otis Jenkins in 1996.

Nellie passed away peacefully in her home on March 31st, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Pope, Sr. and Madie B. Pope, husband, Orzell Green, Sr., daughter, Constance Green, two brothers, Fred Pope, Jr. and Ralph Pope, and one sister, Dorothy Threatt.

Nellie leaves to cherish her loving memories, her husband, Otis Jenkins; eleven children, Rev. Dexter (Barbara) Green, Nellie (Avery) McKinney, Deretha Green, Pearl Gooch, Robin Jones, Orzell Green, Jr., Marian Petty, Fredrick (Cammy) Green, Cherry (Anthony) Peterson, Sandra (Ronny) Adamson, and Tammy Carter; two brothers, James Pope and Booker T. (Rita) Brown; two sisters, Cornelia Cook and Myrtis Brown; twenty eight granddaughters, twenty three grandsons, and a host of great-grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
