Otis William Pearson, affectionately known as “Oak Tree,” began his earthly journey on May 2, 1955, in Talladega County, Alabama. He was the beloved son of the late Willie Pearson and Gertrude Grayson. On July 17, 2025, Otis peacefully transitioned from this life at his residence in Sylacauga, Alabama.
Otis was educated in the Talladega County School System and proudly graduated from Fayetteville High School. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, becoming a faithful member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church before later uniting with Friendship Baptist Church.
He was a hardworking man and dedicated his career to serving as a Maintenance Mechanic. Outside of work, Otis was full of life and joy. Outgoing by nature, he never met a stranger. He loved to dance, had a vibrant spirit, and was always the life of the party. A true Alabama Crimson Tide fan, Otis could often be found cheering for his team. He also had a deep passion for music, especially rap, and enjoyed creating and performing his own songs.
Otis was preceded in death by his loving parents, Gertrude Grayson and Willie Pearson; his sisters Donna, Connie, and Brenda; and his great-nephew Spencer.
He leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories with his devoted children: William Pearson, Kisha Pearson, and Sophia Pearson; his caring sisters, Linda Paris and Tammie Seals; and his adored grandchildren: Saniyah Pearson, Lykeria McMillian, Shatavia McMillian, Atavious McMillian, Issac Pearson, and Jesiah Pearson.
He is also survived by his uncles, Charles Grayson and Ezell Grayson; special niece, Wendy “Pooh” Oden; special nephews, R. Dimitri Oden, Alfred Cook, Joe M. Oden, and Allen Cook; nieces, Cleo Averitte and Valerie Paris; and a host of other loving relatives and close friends.
Otis “Oak Tree” Pearson will be remembered for his warmth, charisma, and unwavering love for his family and community. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit and legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
