Peggy Ann Johnson Crayton

Sylacauga, Alabama - Peggy Ann Johnson Crayton was born on June 6, 1933, to Willie Earl Johnson and Beatrice Glass Johnson in Rockford, Alabama.  She gained her Heavenly wings on October 1, 2024, at her residence in Sylacauga, Alabama, surrounded by her family and hospice care. 

Throughout her life, she attended church in Rockford, Alabama at First Baptist Church Rockford.  She had a love for Jesus Christ and her faith in God was unwavering.  She lived life to the fullest, as a homemaker.  Family was a big part in her life, raising her children and grandchildren brought her great joy. 

She united in Holy Matrimony to the late Felix Smith Crayton during her life’s journey. This union brought great joy and happiness to themselves. They were blessed to be the parents of Wilbert, Felix Jr., Rayfus, Joe, Faye and Jeanette. 

Peggy was preceded in death by her mother, Beatrice Glass Johnson, father, Willie Earl Johnson, Husband, Felix Smith Crayton, sisters, Willie Brown, Sarah Patterson, Rosa Crawford, and Merrell Hill, brothers, Earl Johnson, Tommy Johnson, and Cliford Johnson.  She leaves to cherish her loving memories and to continue her love.  Her children, Rev. Wilbert Lee (Sylvia) Johnson, Felix Crayton, Jr., Rayfus Norris Crayton, Joe Crayton (Patricia Grayson), Faye Walter (James Wesley) Silmon, and Jeanette Crayton; Her Siblings, Robert Johnson, and Ruby Johnson (Butch) Hardman; her grandchildren, Stacey Crayton, Andre Locklin, Germaine Johnson, De’Sean Johnson, LaRay Silmon, Patrece (Rodney) Milliner, and Breanna Grayson; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Celebration of life for Peggy Ann Johnson Crayton, age 91, will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 1:00PM at Community Funeral Home Chapel, Sylacauga, Alabama.  Pastor Audrey Powell, Officiant.  Interment will commence in the Rockford City Cemetery, Rockford, Alabama.  Public viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, 1:00PM to 7:00PM at Community Funeral Home.
