Rev. Doyal Cook the son of Peter and Pearl Cook born on October 26, 1930 in Talladega County, Alabama. He was the youngest of five children.
Rev. Cook confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and united with New Hope Baptist Church, Sylacauga, Alabama. Where he later became an ordained Deacon. As a young man Rev. Cook was educated in the Sylacauga City School System where he graduated from East Highland High School, Sylacauga, Alabama.
Along Rev. Cook's life's journey, he united in Holy Matrimony to Sarah F. Cook. This union has been blessed to see over 60 years of marriage. He was a dedicated employee with The Quarry of Sylacauga and later became an employee with Kimberly Clarke until he retired.
Rev. Cook was a part of the famous quartet group The St. Thomas Five. After many years in ministry Rev. Cook accepted his calling to preach God’s Holy Word. He later took on the responsibility of pastorship and became the Pastor of Corinth Baptist Church, Kellyton, Alabama in 1977. On October 2, 1983 Rev. Cook delivered his first sermon as pastor of Greater New Hope Baptist Church, Sylacauga, Alabama. Rev. Cook retired on January 25, 2009, after pastoring for 32 years.
On October 7th, 2021 Rev. Cook departed this walk of life, under the care of Coosa Valley Medical Center, Sylacauga, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Pearl Cook, one brother, Bonnie Cook, two sisters, Gracie Vencion and Gradie Mae Churchwell.
Rev. Cook love and precious memories will forever be cherished by his loving wife, Sarah F. Cook of Sylacauga, AL; one daughter, Jannie Kidd of Sylacauga, AL; three sons, Ricky (Sharon) Cook of Huntsville, AL; Kenneth Cook and Anthony Cook both of Sylacauga, AL; one God daughter, Beverly Jackson of Wetumpka, AL; one sister, Geraldine Hereford of Huntsville, AL; two sister in laws, Betty Haynes and Jessie Sutton of Lafayette, AL; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family and friends.
