Rickey Kirksey Obituary

Rickey Kirksey's earthly journey began on November 5th, 1958 to the parentage of Tommy Kirksey and Cora L. Patterson Kirksey in Shelby County, Alabama. 

Rickey accepted Christ at an early age and united with Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Wilsonville, Alabama.  He received his formal education in the Shelby County School System and graduated Shelby County High School in Columbiana, Alabama. 

Rickey enlisted in the United States Army in 1976.  He later received an honorable discharge in 1979.  Afterwards, he began his work career and became an employee with Avondale Mills and Russell Mill in Alexander City, Alabama. 

Along Rickey’s life journey he met and united in Holy Matrimony to the late Barbara Kelley. 

He departed this walk of life on June 27th, 2022 under the care of Sylacauga Health & Rehab Center, Sylacauga, Alabama.  He was preceded in death by his father, Tommy J. Kirksey, brother, Tommy L. Kirksey, sister, Freddie Mae McElrath, grandparents, Amos and Hattie Kirksey. 

His love will forever be cherished by three children, Ricketha Kirksey, Ricky Ortavious Kirksey, II, and Ricky Dontavious Kirksey, III; loving mother, Cora Kirksey; three brothers, Michael (Jeannetta) Kirksey, Wayne (Sheila) Kirksey, and James (Patricia) Kirksey; two sisters, Rosie (Jerry) Hughes, and Brenda Simmons; sister in law, Olden Kirksey; best friend, Linda Roger; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.  Special thanks to Coosa Valley Hospice, Charity McLaughlin RN, and Melissa Peoples LMSW.
