Samantha Faye (Calhoun) Heard

Samantha Calhoun Heard began her earthly life on February 7, 1966 in Talladega County, Alabama to the parents of Minister Lawrence Calhoun and Bettye Battle Calhoun.  A loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend was affectionately known as Sam. She joined her grandparents, and other relatives in her heavenly transition on July 11, 2023. Sam loved singing, fishing, and loved Popeye’s chicken. 

Sam accepted Christ as her savior at an early age and united with King’s Chapel Congregational Church, Alpine, Alabama.  She recently rededicated her life to Christ and was baptized again.  

Sam received her education in the Talladega County School System and graduated from Childersburg High School with the class of 1984.  She furthered her education and attended Gadsden State Community College and Herzing University, Birmingham, Alabama where she received her Medical Insurance Billing and Coding Certificate in 2018.  She was employed with Russell Mills Corporation for over 10 years until its closure.

Along Sam’s life’s journey she met and united in holy matrimony to Mr. Jimmy Heard in 1999. This union was blessed to see 24 beautiful years.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her husband, Jimmy Heard; her loving parents, Lawrence and Bettye Calhoun; loving children, Fredrick (Marquita) Norman, Jr., Tim Dowdell, Joshua Heard, Valerie Hart, Tabitha (Tyrone) Brown, and Ieisha Heard; special granddaughter, Keyondra Sharday Heard; sisters, LaResea (Timothy) Embry and Josetta (Sam) Jackson; grandchildren, Caison, Dallas, Kaden, Noah, Amir, Keshon, Joel, Javon, Phillip, Tyrell, Jared, and JaQualla; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
