Sylacauga, Alabama - Mr. Samuel Lee Oden was born on December 22, 1947, to the late Mr. Aaron and Mrs. Ruth Parker Oden. He peacefully departed this life on May 1, 2026, at the age of 78.
Samuel proudly served in the United States Army where he received an Honorable discharge. He worked with Avondale Mill, Inc. of Sylacauga for 30 plus years before retiring. Music was a special part of his life. He loved playing the piano and sharing his gift of music with the Joyful Noise AOH Church of God and the community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Aaron and Mrs. Ruth Parker Oden; his grandparents, Mr. Burle and Mrs. Anna Parker Oden; his brother, Aaron Oden Jr.; his grandson, Condaruis R. Oden; his former spouse, Daisy Coleman Oden; his childhood friend, Bario Minor; and a host of other relatives.
Samuel leaves to cherish his memory his former spouse, Genette Garrett Oden; his children: Sandra (Andrew) Keith, Trina Oden, Ruth Oden; Stepchildren: Tesha (Jason) Twyman, and Johnathon Oden, whom he shared with Genette; Bryant Keith Oden and Samuel Oden Jr., whom he shared with his late former spouse, Daisy; and Pineeciya Cottingham Oden.
He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: grandsons, Vonteruis Oden, Donteruis Oden, and Santavius (Shania) Oden; and granddaughters, Alexus Oden , TeAsia Oden, Andrea Keith, Brittany Keith, Aniyah Oden, Ariana Oden, Aziyah Oden, Jamiyah Oden, Janiyah Miles, and Asharia Smith.
He also leaves to cherish his memory his great-grandchildren: Collins Oden, Kayleigh Oden, Brooklyn Keith, Jaicole Cook, Brenlee Keith, and Brenton Keith; and a host of relatives and friends.
Samuel will be remembered for his service to his country, his love for his family, and the joy he brought through music and faith. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
