Sylacauga, Alabama - Mrs. Sarah Frances Sutton Cook was born on January 27, 1937, in Lafayette, Alabama, to the late Mr. Lee “Buster” Sutton, Sr. and the late Mrs. Julia Pearl Sutton.
Her education began at Sandy Level School in Camp Hill, Alabama, and continued at East Highland High School in Sylacauga, Alabama.
Sarah Frances was joined in holy matrimony in 1962 to Rev. Doyal Cook, who preceded her in death.
She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Sardis Baptist Church in Camp Hill, Alabama. She later joined Mount Zion Baptist Church in Sylacauga, Alabama. After marriage, she united in fellowship with New Hope Baptist Church, where she served faithfully until she was no longer able to drive.
Her employment included working as a presser at Clean Cleaners Laundry in Sylacauga, Alabama. She later completed 31 years of dedicated service at Avondale Mills, where she worked as a spinner.
Sarah Frances enjoyed playing bingo and loved arts and crafts. She kept herself busy traveling and spending time with family and friends. She was a giver by nature, and her greatest joy came from giving to others. When visiting her home, no one ever left without a gift.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Annie Elizabeth (Rev. Dr. Everett) Kelley of Hughesville, Maryland; three sons, Rickey (Sharon) Cook of Huntsville, Alabama, Kenneth Cook, and Anthony Cook, both of Sylacauga, Alabama; one sister, Betty Haynes of Lafayette, Alabama; one brother, Lee Sutton, Jr. of Washington State; and one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Sutton of Birmingham, Alabama. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other relatives.
Special friends throughout the years include Evelyn Burns, Mary Carter, Cora Lee, Johnny May Sanders, and Zara’Lara McGhee.
