Mrs. Sherrel Latreece McGregor - Kirkland the beloved daughter of Gannite McGregor and Juliette Russell McGregor was born on August 28, 1979, in Sylacauga, Alabama. Rel as she was affectionately known entered into eternal rest on May 7, 2024.
Sherrel confessed Jesus Christ at an early age and united with Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Sylacauga, Alabama. Where she was a faithful choir member, a part of the youth department and usher board. She later united her faith with Mt. Cleveland Missionary Baptist Church in Talladega, Alabama where she was a faithful and dedicated member, song in the Mt. Cleveland choir, member of Women of Faith, and a part of the Pastor Aide Ministry.
Sherrel was a 1997 graduate of B.B. Comer Memorial High School in Sylacauga, Alabama. She furthered her education at Central Alabama Community College (CACC) where she received her LPN and her RN Degree. And later enrolled and graduated from Jacksonville State University (JSU) and received her bachelor's in science. She was employed early in life at Captain D’s, and later became a faithful and dedicated employee with Coosa Valley Medical Center in Sylacauga, Alabama and Children’s Hospital Poison Control Center, Birmingham, Alabama.
Along Sherrel’s life’s journey she met and united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Ronzenski McQuail Kirkland.
Sherrel was preceded in death by her baby brother, Gannite Jamal McGregor, her grandparents, Ethel Mae Spidell, Willie Shephard, Jr., Horace Oden and Georgia McGregor.
Her love will forever be cherished by her beloved husband, Ronzenski Kirkland of Sylacauga, AL; one son, Marcus L. Kirkland of Talladega, AL; four daughters, Deaisha N. Harvey of Lineville, AL, Alexia Morris of Talladega, AL, Doris Kirkland of Birmingham, AL, and Nakiya Townsend of Lincoln, AL; loving mother, Juliette Russell McGregor of Sylacauga, AL; loving father, Gannite (Cleatrice) McGregor of Powder Springs, GA; grandmother, Mary Shepherd of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Kemiah McGregor of Sylacauga, AL; two brother, Tyriq McGregor and Tyae McGregor of Sylacauga, AL; father in law, Robert (Irene) Kirkland of Sylacauga, AL; sister in laws, Angelia (Hoarace) Leonard of Childersburg, AL, Taleasha (Jay) Pool of Texas, Shamika Whetstone of Sylacauga, AL and Lakesha McGregor; brother in laws, Cedric (Joy) Kirkland of Moody, AL, Freddy (Renea) Gaddis of Sylacauga, AL, and Condero Gaddis of Sylacauga, AL; grandchildren, Mi’Yani, Layla, Royal, and Legand; aunts, Annie Lee, Jackie Shepard, Tracy (Eugene) Richardson, Jennifer (Tommy) Lester, Belinda Russell, Betty (Lawrence) Calhoun, and Mary McGregor; uncles, James (Ludie) McGregor, William McGregor, Robert (Rita) Russell, Willie Ray (Diane) Russell, Willie Shephard, Anthony Shephard, Pearly (Louise) Battle, Early (Dorothy) Battle, and Tyrone Shephard; special sisters, Kelly Threatt, Vivian McGhee, Sabrina Walker, Arricka Player, and Valeria Dale; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Celebration of life for Sherrel Latreece Kirkland, age 44, will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 11:00AM at Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Sylacauga, Alabama. Rev. Robert L. Russell, Eulogist. Interment will commence in the Lilly Rhoden | Enon Baptist Church Cemetery, Childersburg, Alabama. Public viewing will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024, 1:00PM to 7:00PM at Community Funeral Home.
