Sylvia Jean Simmons Wilson earthly journey began on June 30, 1962 in Childersburg, Alabama to the parents of Samuel Simmons and Mandie Whiteside Simmons. She joined her parents, brothers, Lawrence Simmons, Billy Simmons, Joe M. Simmons, Jimmy Simmons, Jeff Simmons, Fred Simmons, Fancie Simmons, and Willie Simmons, and sister, Mae Etta Nickleberry/Mahmud, in her Heavenly transition on August 10, 2023 in Childersburg, Alabama.
Sylvia confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and united with Mountain Home Baptist Church, Sycamore, Alabama. She was a dedicated member and served on the Mission Board and sung in the Mountain Home Church Choir.
Sylvia received her formal education in the Talladega County School System and graduated with the class of 1980 at Childersburg High School. She furthered her education and attended N. F. Nunnelley State Tech College, in Childersburg, Alabama. She was a dedicated employee with Tyson Food for twenty plus years in the Human Resource and Benefits Counselors department until her retirement.
She was a genuine, caring, and loving queen that touched many people lives. Sylvia love for people never allowed her to meet a stranger. If you were blessed to experience her presence, there is no doubt that you have cherished memories of her.
Sylvia’s love will forever be cherished by a special son, Christian Lamar Jackson of Childersburg, AL; siblings, Vivian Norwood, Annie (Arthur) Williams, Fannie L. Phillips, Judy A. (Charles) Reid, Laura (Wydell) Townsend, Melvin Simmons, Robert J. (Mary) Simmons, and William Jackson; and a host of special nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family and friends.
