Mrs. Vera A. Varner was born May 3, 1930 in Elmore County, Alabama to the parents of the late William Floyd and Beatrice Williams.
Mrs. Varner was married to Rudolph Varner Sr. in 1945 and of this union ten children was born, six sons and four daughters.
Mrs. Varner accepted Christ at an early age and has been a faithful member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church for over 60 years. She was active in the Senior Choir and Nurses’ Guild. She was also a very active member of the Golden Keys Club that uplifted seniors with positive messages and songs.
Mrs. Varner started her education in Talladega County School System at East Highland. Her compassioned nature lead her to work with small children and the elderly. She worked at Drew Court Day Care Center for many years and later with The Home Health Care Agency of North Alabama.
Mrs. Varner is preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Varner Sr. and daughter, Patricia A. Woods. She answered God’s call to her eternal rest on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
Mrs. Varner leaves to cherish her memories nine children: Samuel (Diana) Williams of Sylacauga, Al, Rudolph (Cassandra) Varner Jr. of Sylacauga, Al, Lenoir (Delores) Varner Sr. of Sylacauga, AL, Myron (Patricia) Varner Sr. of Chino Hills, CA, Deborah Cannon of Jonesboro, GA, Danette Varner of Lancaster, CA, Stephaine (Tony) Gerrins of Jacksonville, FL. Douglas (Vanessa) Varner Sr. of Sylacauga, Al, and Eric (Sylvia) Varner Sr. of Savannah, GA, two sisters, Ruby Johnson of Oxnard CA and Marie of Orlando, FL. She leaves 24 Grandchildren and 40 Great Grandchildren and a host other relatives and friends.
