Vernita Elaine Kidd was born on April 29, 1964, to Frederick Kidd and the late Mildred P. Kidd in Sylacauga, Alabama. She was affectionately known as Elaine or "Laine" to many.
As a child, Elaine attended Baker's Grove Missionary Baptist Church. As an adult, she joined the Coosa Valley Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as the secretary of Sunday School and a member of the Kitchen Committe for many years.
She received her formal education in the Shelby County School system and was a graduate from Vincent High School, Class of 1982. She furthered her education at CACC and received certificates in culinary arts.
Widely known for her cream cheese pound cake, Elaine was a great cook. She was fortunate to retire early from Aramark Food Company and focus on her health and her family.
Elaine lived a peaceful and selfless life. She was always willing to help others. She had a sweet spirit and personality. She loved God and her family.
Elaine exchanged this earthly life for eternal life on Monday, December 23, 2024. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Bertha and Sam Kidd; her maternal grandparents, Albert and Annie B. Porter; and her loving mother, Mildred P. Kidd.
Elaine's love and life will be forever cherished by her loving daughter, Tiffany Jeaneen Kidd; father, Frederick (Margaret) Kidd; three brothers, Ronald Kidd, Reginald (Earleke) Kidd and Derrick (Tonya) Kidd; two sisters, Teresa Kidd and Jessica Harris; one grandson, Damien Kidd; three aunts, Rebecca Shepard, Gladys Yowe and Carolyn Yowe; one uncle, Albert Porter, Jr.; four bonus siblings; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives.
