WIllie Ray Wilson Obituary

Willie Ray Wilson’s journey began on June 19, 1945 in Sylacauga, Alabama.  He was the beloved son of Arthur Borden and Mollie Wilson Burney. He grew up in the home with his mother and stepfather Charlie Wilson.

Willie accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age and attended Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church and later Pine Grove Baptist Church.  He was educated in the public school systems at East Highland High School and graduated with the class of 1965.

Willie was employed with Avondale Mills, Inc. for 42 years and later was employed with Talladega County Schools as a bus driver for many years. He had a passion for shooting pool and playing guitar, as well as enjoying nature and exploring scenic rides. In his younger days, he found joy in riding motorcycles. Willie Ray had a kind heart, always willing to assist those in need, whether it involved fixing a bolt, moving items, or simply being a supportive presence for others.

Along Willie’s life’s journey he met and united in Holy Matrimony to Ms. Della Marbury.  He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend who touched countless lives with his infectious humor, generous spirit, and unwavering empathy.  His love for his family knew no bounds, and he was always there to offer a listening ear, a comforting word, or a helping hand.  His kindness, compassion, and generosity inspired everyone around him to be better versions of themselves.

Willie departed this walk of life on June 11, 2025 under the care of Coosa Valley Medical Center, Sylacauga, Alabama.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Borden, and Mollie Burney, brothers, Charles Wilson, Richard Wilson, Rev. William Franklin Borden, Sr., and step sister,  Minnie Wilson Powell.
