Wallis Leon Harvey

Sylacauga, Alabama - Mr. Wallis Leon Harvey earthly journey began on May 9, 1949, in Sylacauga, Alabama to the parents of Joseph Sam Harvey and Celia Hart Harvey. 

Mr. Harvey accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age and united with Shiloh Baptist Church, Sylacauga, Alabama.

Mr. Harvey received his education at Migion Jr. High School, Sylacauga, Alabama. After receiving his education he was employed with the Rock Quarry, recently named Imerys for 40 years until his retirement. 

Along Mr. Harvey’s life’s journey, he met and united in Holy Matrimony to Ms. Eva Gamble.

Mr. Harvey departed this walk of life January 4, 2024, at his residence in Sylacauga, Alabama.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Celia Harvey and Jospeh Sam Harvey, son, Wallis Leon Harvey, Jr., siblings, Virginia Harvey, Amos Harvey, and Jessie Harvey. 

Mr. Harvey’s love will forever be cherished by his loving and devoted wife, Eva Gamble Harvey of Sylacauga, AL; one son, Malcom (Jamie) Harvey of Goodwater, AL; two loving daughters, Kristie Harvey Heard of Midfield, AL and Tammy Harvey of Sylacauga, AL; step daughter, Veronica Lee of Georgia; two brothers, Joseph (Gail) Harvey of Sylacauga, AL, and Curtis Harvey of Sylacauga, AL; four sisters, Ruthie (Jerry) Crow of Sylacauga, AL, Mary (Larry) Threatt of Sylacauga, AL, Joyce Cunningham of Atlanta, GA, and Gloria Averitte of Sylacauga, AL; one sister in law, Linda Harvey of Sylacauga, AL; special granddaughter, Tiara Harvey (Katelynn McKinney) of Childersburg, AL; six grandchildren, a special niece and caregiver, Lisa Sparks of Sylacauga, AL; a good friend, Alvin McKenzie; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of life for Mr. Wallis Leon Harvey, 74, will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Community Funeral Home Chapel, Sylacauga, Alabama.  Pastor Carlos Woodward, Eulogist. Interment will commence in the Sylacauga Cemetery, Sylacauga, Alabama.  Public Viewing will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024, 1:00PM to 7:00PM at Community Funeral Home.
