Willie Louis Whetstone was the second child born to the late Grover Cleveland Whetstone Jr. and Thelma Lee Dandridge Whetstone. He was proceeded in death by his parents and his three children Christopher, Delanford, and Tisa Joi Whetstone.
Willie Louis Whetstone was born, March 30, 1950, in Goodwater, Alabama. He was raised in Sylacauga, Alabama where he attended East Highland High school and played football and loved to cut hair so much, he thought he was a barber. He graduated from East Highland and then moved to Detroit Michigan in 1968. As Louis settled in Michigan he worked at Detroit Diesel where he retired after 40 years. He was part of the Detroit Diesel Van Club where he took pride in his wheels. He enjoyed life, Friday nights behind the van where Louis introduced the neighborhood kids to Budweiser and to his love of Blues. Louis enjoyed time with family and was looked upon with a youthful spirit especially hanging out with his nephew Tarrish Leonard. After retirement Louis moved back to Sylacauga and bought a house in Goodwater until his illness. After moving to Goodwater Louis joined New Beginnings Ministries in Sylacauga, Alabama.
The Lord called Willie Louis Whetstone home on Monday, April 18, 2022, at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
He leaves to cherish his memory Sandra Cook-Whetstone, beloved sister Patricia Whetstone-Penn, five children: Valarie Averitte, Charnise Whetstone, Samantha Nicole Whetstone, Michael Terrell Cook, and Cussandra (Emanuel) McAfee; four grandchildren; Aaron Calhoun, Tim McKinney, Bj (Genekia) McKinney, Whitney McKinney: 11 great grandchildren; one aunt: Mary Alice Thomas; two great aunts: Geneva Robinson and Laverne Whetstone; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
