Sylacauga, Alabama - With hearts heavy yet grateful for the joy Zamaria brought into the world, we celebrate the life and legacy of Zamaria Ty’Asia Whetstone, lovingly known by many as “Zee,” “Nuke,” or “Nook.” Born on February 15, 2001, in Talladega County, Alabama, Zamaria was a radiant light in the lives of her beloved parents, Lawanda Whetstone and Brandon Searcy. Her journey came to a peaceful close on July 27, 2025, in Clay County, Alabama.
Zamaria was a proud graduate of Sylacauga High School, Class of 2019. With ambition in her spirit and dreams in her heart, she furthered her studies at Central Alabama Community College in Childersburg, Alabama.
A young woman of faith, Zamaria was a devoted member of Jesus Saves Deliverance Temple in Sylacauga, where she found joy singing in the youth choir. Her voice lifted others in worship just as her spirit lifted those around her in daily life.
Zamaria worked with heart and dedication at both The Chicken Coop in Childersburg and Domino’s, where her cheerful presence and infectious energy were unforgettable. Whether she was preparing food or making TikTok videos mid-shift, her humor and personality made work feel more like joy. Her shining black boots, a fashion statement all their own, were her signature style, as bold and brilliant as her spirit.
She was the life of every party, a natural comedian, and a light in every room. Known for her hilarious TikTok videos and genuine laughter, Zamaria had a way of making everyone feel seen, valued, and entertained. Her joy was magnetic, her kindness undeniable, and her presence unforgettable.
Zamaria was preceded in death by her grandparents, James and Leanna Whetstone and Virginia Sue Searcy; uncles, Paul Whetstone and Michael Williams; and her beloved sister, Takia Dunn.
Her legacy of love, laughter, and light lives on in the hearts of those who loved her dearly: Her parents, Lawanda Whetstone and Brandon Searcy; stepfather, James Patrick Yowe; grandparents, Pearlie and Joe Craver of Sylacauga, Manuel Stone of Opelika, and William McGregor of Talladega Springs; siblings, Anilaya Molton, Kania Searcy, Brandy Seary, Hope Baggage, Shakera Searcy, and Brandon Searcy Jr.; devoted aunts and uncles, including Nakeshia (Frank) Averette, Lisa Sparks (Alvin McKenzie), Wendy McGregor, Kim McGregor, Sasha Searcy, Tarnisha Searcy, Henry Whetstone, and Jason Whetstone (Sharee Duncan); cherished special sister Shay Swain and nephew Kamden; close cousin Candicee Simmons; God-dad Anthony Keels; dear friend and “sister” Talah Caldwell, along with her sons Denver and Houston; and a large host of loving relatives and treasured friends.
Zamaria’s light may have dimmed on this side, but her laughter echoes in the hearts of all who knew her. She danced through life with joy, and though she is no longer with us physically, her spirit, bright, bold, and beautiful, will never be forgotten.
